Hill Country Freeze Warning Tonight

November 4th, 2010 at 3:20 pm by under Weather
Freeze Warnings have been issued for much of the KXAN Hill Country viewing area through early Friday morning.  Details from our area National Weather Service offices are below.
Tonight
A freeze warning is in effect for much of the Hill Country
Tonight from 3 am to 9 am.

Clear skies and light winds tonight will allow for rapid cooling...
with temperatures falling to or below the freezing mark over much of
the Hill Country. The area most likely to see a freeze is north of a
line from Pandale to Carta Valley to Barksdale to Bandera to Comfort
to Enchanted Rock to Valley Spring.

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or
highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other
sensitive vegetation.

Over the remainder of South Central Texas temperatures will fall
into the mid to upper 30s. Winds north near 5 mph.

Freeze Tonight
Temperatures tonight are forecast to fall below freezing across much
of the Heartland, Concho Valley, northern Edwards Plateau and
northwest Hill Country. Most areas will generally see temperatures
around 30 degrees but a few low lying areas and river valleys may
see temperatures fall as low as the mid 20s. A hard freeze is
anticipated for some areas in the freeze warning with a light
freeze expected throughout the remainder of the warning area.
Farther north, temperatures are expected to be slightly warmer
tonight. However, a light frost can be expected across much of the
Big Country with isolated pockets of near freezing temperatures
possible.
