Weekend storms lit up the sky with dazzling lightning. Now, more rain is in store this week.

A cold front set to move through Central Texas this evening will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms.

A few storms that develop this afternoon and evening may be severe. It’d be a good day to make sure your weather radio is plugged in, has fresh batteries and is turned on.

The Storm Prediction Center included the Austin metro area and the Hill Country in a slight risk for severe storms.Very large hail and damaging winds are possible with the strongest storms.

A Flash Flood Watch also goes into effect at 4 p.m. this afternoon and continues until Tuesday afternoon for pockets of heavy rain within the thunderstorm activity. Isolated rain totals today and tomorrow could reach 5″.
