Winds to pick up Christmas Day

December 25th, 2012 at 8:23 am by under Weather

Once thunderstorms push east with a strong cold front, much windier conditions will pick up in Central Texas.

Thunderstorm passing the RV Outlet Mall weathernet site in Georgetown Christmas morning.

In fact, the NWS has issued a Wind Advisory for the entire area until 7 p.m. You’ll want to secure your lawn decorations, furniture and take care while driving on the roadways. NNW winds could gust up to 40 mph.

There’s also a high fire danger because of the winds and drier air moving in behind the front. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 7 p.m. too. Fires that start will be hard to contain.
