From all of us at KXAN we hope you have had and continue to have a wonderful holiday season.  Now, we look ahead to saying goodbye to the calendar year of 2012, and wecoming in 2013.  For our final edition of Holiday Happenings we take a look at some of the wonderful goings on to help celebrate the New Year.  Have a safe and fantastic start to 2013, and don’t forget to make a great New Year’s Resolution.




1.  Willie Nelson and Friends Family New Year

Willie Nelson, Austin’s hometown musician, returns to ring in the New Year with special guests. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 19 at 12:00 pm. Andy Langer will host the show on the 31st, where there will be a special appearance by Father Time Texas and champagne toast by Woodbridge Sparkling at midnight.The W Austin will also be offering weekend packages, which include tickets for two to the show, cocktails and hotel room for one night. 2.  Austin’s New Year

Austin’s New Year (ANY) is an annual free event on Auditorium Shores where Austin families can come together to welcome in the New Year! ANY is an alcohol-free celebration showcasing Austin’s diverse and talented creative community through art, films, and live music. And kids and adults alike won’t want to miss the exciting fireworks finale.



3.  The Muttcracker

4.  New Year’s Eve Overnighter

at Twin Lakes Family YMCA, Cedar Park, TX
 YMCA Camp Twin Lakes in Cedar Park is bringing you (ages 6-15) the most incredible overnight experience you can imagine – our New Year’s Eve Overnighter! How would you like to grab your friends for a game of Laser Tag or Paintball? DONE! What about a game of Gladiator in the gym? YES! And so much more. All of the fun starts at 6:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and runs through 10:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). Cost is only $45 per child for Y Members or $55 per child for Non-Members.

5.  Hill Country New Years Eve With Ray Wylie Hubbard & Uncle Lucius

Obviously there are a slew of bars and restaurants that are hosting a New Year’s Eve bash.  There are so many, we could not list them all here.  Therefore, we decided to include events that you may not have heard about.  No matter what you decide, as you ring in 2013, please do so safely!!  Have a great weekend, end to 2012, and beginning to 2013!!
