Red Flag Warning For Parts Of The Hill Country

A RED FLAG WARNING has been posted for parts of southwest and central Texas.  The warning includes a few communities in the western portion of our Hill Country viewing area.  Here is the latest from the National Weather Service:

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON THROUGH 7 PM ACROSS
THE WESTERN HALF OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS DUE TO A DRY COLD
FRONT...

.A DRY COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS LATE THIS
MORNING...RESULTING IN BREEZY AND DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS ALL AREAS.
GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH ARE EXPECTED ACROSS ALL OF
SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING. AFTERNOON RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES WILL FALL TO BETWEEN 15 AND 20 PERCENT ACROSS AREAS
ALONG AND WEST OF A FREDERICKSBURG TO BOERNE TO PLEASANTON
LINE...MAKING FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. EAST OF THIS
LINE...ELEVATED TO NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED...WITH MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES EXPECTED TO BE IN
THE 20 TO 30 PERCENT RANGE ACROSS MOST AREAS. HUMIDITIES SHOULD
INCREASE IN THE EVENING AS TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO FALL BEHIND

* 20-FOOT WIND...15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH.

* HUMIDITY...15 TO 20 PERCENT

* IMPACTS...ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY.
  OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY.  AVOID THE USE OF
OPEN FLAMES OR ANY ACTIVITIES THAT MAY GENERATE SPARKS.
ACCIDENTAL IGNITIONS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO GROW QUICKLY INTO
DANGEROUS WIND DRIVEN WILDFIRES.
