Beautiful sunshine soaking the Capital city during the lunch hour on Wednesday

A large ridge of high pressure centered over New Mexico as of midday Wednesday will be shifting eastward into Texas this afternoon.

Under that ridge of high pressure, Phoenix is expected to smash their record high by 6 degrees this afternoon – and all of that warm air is heading our way.

After highs this afternoon in the upper 70s – about 15 degrees above average – highs could hit the 80 degree mark on Thursday.  The record high for Thursday in Austin is 81.
