3-9 Severe threat

Overcast skies with on/off light rain showers will continue throughout our Saturday, but as a powerful upper-level storm system approaches this evening, a threat of severe weather enters the picture.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to fire beginning as early as dinnertime in the Hill Country, and spread across the rest of central Texas during the overnight hours tonight.

The main threats with this possible severe weather event will be large hail (potentially up to golfball-size) and damaging wind gusts.

If you have a NOAA Weather Radio, keep it handy overnight tonight. If you leave the radio in ‘Standby’ mode, the radio will be silent – but activate a warning tone if severe weather develops in your area.

And as always, tune in to KXAN News for updates as we will break in any time of day or night if severe weather develops in central Texas.
