Thursday front may bring record lows

A strong cold front will move across South Central Texas late Wednesday night into Thursday. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible along and just behind the front. There is a slight risk over severe thunderstorms over the Hill Country from about 9pm Wednesday until around 3am Thursday morning. Low rainfall amounts can be expected, generally less than one quarter inch…however isolated totals near one inch are possible. (NWS)

At strong cold front will move across south central Texas late Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Much cooler temperatures are expected behind the cold front on Thursday, Friday Saturday. Record low temperatures are possible Friday and Friday night Lows will be in the low 40s across the Hill Country to the mid and upper 40s over adjacent parts of South Central Texas and mid 40s to near 50 over the Rio Grande Plains. Highs Friday will be in the 70s, and in the 70s to near 80 on Saturday. The record daily lows this coming Friday, May 2nd, are as follows…Austin Bergstrom 47 in 2011, Austin Mabry 41 in 1925, Del Rio 49 in 2011, and San Antonio 47 in 1976. The record daily lows for this coming Saturday, May 3rd, are as follows…Austin Bergstrom 44 in 2011, Austin Mabry 45 in 1929, Del Rio 45 in 1970, and San Antonio 47 in 2011. The records for the month of May are as follows…Austin Bergstrom 38 on May 4, 2011…Austin Mabry 40 on May 1, 1925…Del Rio 45 on May 3, 1970 and San Antonio 43 on May 9, 1984. (NWS)
