Record cold continues

The late-season cold snap tightened its grip across central Texas Saturday morning, shattering record lows for the second morning in a row.

After setting a record low Friday morning, Camp Mabry stayed above their daily record of 42 degrees on Saturday.

The airport, however, did not. ABIA broke not only their record low temperature for the day – but the record low for the entire month!

Saturday morning was the coldest May morning ever at ABIA, with a bone-chilling low temperature of 37 degrees.

All towns in central Texas stayed above freezing, but it was a different story on one creek bottom.

Big Sandy Creek near Jonestown (NW Travis County) bottomed out at 29 degrees Saturday morning!

The cold snap will ease its grip on the area through the weekend, with warm afternoon highs and progressively less-cold overnights.
