Disturbance near Africa likely to become Tropical Storm Dorian

An African Easterly Wave (AEW) that exited the western coast of Africa two days ago is becoming better-organized, and the National Hurricane Center is now giving the stormĀ  a 60% likelihood of further development during the next 48 hours.

There is a bit of mid-level dry air, and also slightly cooler sea surface temperatures, that the storm will have to overcome during its trek westward.

If the storm does develop as expected, it would become Tropical Storm Dorian – the next storm in the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season name list.
