Despite the relative impossibility (unless something big goes down before the national convention) of being the Republican nominee for president, Congressman Ron Paul still managed to draw thousands to his rally in Austin yesterday. It was a mixture of hippies, doctors, anarchists, students and average Joes. On one part of the lawn, I saw girls with braids, hoola hooping while holding up Ron Paul placards. On another part of the lawn, there were two huge stones with the 10 commandments written on them. Needless to say, an eclectic gathering of Ron Paul supporters.
Before the rally, I met Paul at his hotel and had a one on one sit down interview with him. He will not drop out of the race, he says, nor will he consider a third party candidacy because he says it would just marginilize him more. He is still bringing in money and support, so he says as long as that happens he will continue the good fight. He is also collecting money to keep his seat in Congress in case the presidency thing doesn’t pan out.
The man has honest eyes; that much I can definitely say. Even if you don’t agree with his stance, you have to hand it to him for not pandering to his audience and sticking to his guns no matter how the tide turns against him. If you want to watch, the interview will air on Austin News Today at 9:40am this morning.

Go Dr.Paul! Congressman Paul is the only honest candidate running, for either party, it’s a shame he got blacked out nationally. I have come to the conclusion that the American public is in general, a herd of sheep. Sad.

The economy is going to hell, we continue to send our troops to war, protecting our security, don’t think so. Spreading Democracy, do you know, we are a Republic not a democracy. Look up the difference. Once in a life time, we have a chance to take back our freedom and us Americans drop the ball. We don’t want freedom because we don’t know how to take care of ourselves anymore. We want someone to tell us what to do. The MSM has done a good job of that, because if you don’t even know about Ron Paul, you are just a MSM informed voter and should not even be voting. The Internet has exposed the MSM and voter fraud, yet we do nothing. If you want real change in our Government, you would have to vote for Ron Paul, because he is the only one who is talking real change in our Government, not the other ones. They want the Government to run the same and give out more money we don’t have. So when you go vote, ask yourself, do I really want a change in Government? Ron Paul2008

People need to understand that all the other candidates, even the republicans, are COMMUNISTS. Ron Paul is the only one who hasn’t sold out to the UN, the FedRes, the IRS, etc. He’s for our country’s form of government and the Constitution.

Thank you for covering while most media have only time to take the man down. This nation has been struggling for a long time trying to balance the ideas of our founding fathers with those of “good idea fairies” that try to satisfy us emotionally while leaving the Constitution and sound theory behind. As I watch the economy come to the brink of something yet to be understood from afar, I hope that this beacon of truth and light will leave us something to build on.

Dr. Ron Paul tells it like it is, but more importantly, he knows how it is! Thanks for sharing this interview with us? once again Jenny Hoff does top notch hard hitting investigative journalism! She is really a great person, i can’t wait to see more of her stories. she’s better than any of those punks on 40 minutes(60 minutes with commercials)! i’d like to see her tear John McCain a new one!
