Actually, this would be a shot in the cellulite. Governor Perry is throwing his support, or rather your support, behind a drug that is meant to prevent people from getting obese.

Perry put $250 thousand of your enterprise fund tax dollars towards the drug, which is being researched by Halsa Pharmaceuticals. The drug is supposed to cut body fat and, hopefully, cut Texas’s soaring obesity rates. I like it already–the only bad news, it won’t be on the market for ten more years.
You can watch the story KXAN reporter Matt Flener did on it here.

Seems like if this was a truly viable breakthrough, all kinds of investors would be crawling all over each other to lay down big bucks. I guess our superhero leaders are ahead of the venture capitalists on this one. 10 years?!? I’ll need gallons of the stuff by then!!! Better get back to the gym and eat right —- oh yeah, we should simply adopt more healthy lifestyles. I sure could use a slice of that 250K.

I know! Ten years gives us virtually no hope!

This like any other thing the FDA and corporate gaints get involved in, the time it takes to bring a quality working drug to market is so the profits can be maximized. People they would help, come last.
