I know this isn’t ultra-political, but I am stillĀ confounded when I think of police chief Art Acevedo’s idea of having police take your blood if they suspect you of drinking and driving. In the story one of our reporters did today, Acevedo said “people can deny a breathalizer all they want, but we will aggressively pursue a search warrant” or something to that effect. I will be utterly shocked if there is not some public outcry to this new policy. Surely, in a world where people are worried about online surveillance and phone tapping, they will not just silently agree with being forced to part with their bodily fluids.
Check out the story and tell me what you think!!!

Guess everyone is so afraid of retailiation that no one wants to blog when you must sign in a name and e-mail address. The police force tyranny has, even now, got us all on the run. Today, I am contacting the ACLU with my concerns and sending them some money so that policies like this can and must be fought.

Hey Jenny — I am sure there will be outrage over this issue. However, I do find it amazing how people will go to any length to protect their right to drink and drive. At least the Chief has put the issue out front. Drunk driving is a preventable tragedy — hopefully something good will come of the issue being raised. I’d like to hear a good argument why a blood draw would be such a bad deal if a person is suspected of drunk driving.

Can we say “Police State”, such a program is just another way our government is working to remove our rights as citizens. Our “Bill of Rights” is under fire once again. This program needs to be stopped.
