Speaker’s Race Heats Up

December 29th, 2008 · 2 Comments

According to a list released to the Quorum Report, 64 Democrats in the Texas House have officially signed on to vote against Tom Craddick in the upcoming Speaker’s race. Couple that with the 12 Republicans who have filed to run for Speaker and there is a majority against Tom Craddick. Craddick’s Alexis Delee said, “I don’t know when the list was put together or when it was checked twice but it’s an inaccurate list. We continue to have the support of the majority of the House.” She went on to say that people who have their names signed on that list have vowed to vote for Craddick.

Pay to Play?

I think “pay to play” will become the catchphrase of 2008/2009 as the investigation into Blagojevich continues. I just want to know when pundits and journalists alike got the word that the expression will be used as often as possible to make it a household name.  The best part is how everyone now uses the expression with ease…as if we’ve never called good old fashioned “bribery” anything else.
