Britney Tears
Categories: Uncategorized.
It’s one in the morning on a Saturday night and my sister and I have just finished watching our very own Britney retrospective. Now, that’s not what we intended to do, we intended to find out who cheated on Mandy Moore to make her mad enough to write, record and release “Nothing That You Are”, which contains the lyrics “I hope you burn in hell” (or something very close to that).
We soon found ourselves in the downward spiral that is YouTube’s collection of videos where Britney is the subject. Clicking on parodies, montages, and the infamous VMA performance, we found ourselves wanting to watch what made us love her in the first place, and we found it. Not surprising, the internet is awesome. However, our feelings of sadness watching these amazing performances were surprising. We were sad, we’ve lost someone that once brought us such joy. We reminisced about how lucky were are that we got to see Britney LIVE (she was live, her voice was not…that’s another non-surprise, if you’re keeping score).
April asked a question that I have asked myself and many others in recent times, “What went wrong? What was the tipping point? The perverbial straw?”
I’m actually asking….please tell me. I’m looking for anything I can grab onto to give me just the tiniest bit of hope. I want my Britney back.
Consequently, if you’re wondering how our journey ended: Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River.”
