Austin Golden Hour

Not much to report yet, but my fingers are crossed (as well as my toes and my eyes).  So The CW has picked up a pilot called Austin Golden Hour.  It is ER meets 24…in Austin.  It will follow ER docs and EMT in the critical first hour after a trauma.  But don’t worry their personal lives won’t be left out, I don’t know but I have a feeling that it will be awesome and totally eclipse that other tired hospital relationshipy show (not ER…the other one).  IF I ever have to retract that statement, which is highly unlikely, just remember that now that you’ve read this far in this post…you know as much about the show as I do.

I’m really hoping that they’ll shoot here too and the cast from AGH and Friday Night Lights will start to co-mingle and I will catch that all on tape and make my own show called Austin Friday Night Golden Lights.  It will focus on football players and typical high-school students saving ER docs and EMTs.  And no I won’t leave out the drama of their personal lives either.

You’re Welcome

So, my day just got totally turned around.  I was just informed by a co-worker that you can watch FULL EPISODES of Miami Vice on NBC.com.  I can’t wait to tell my dad, we watched MV together back in the day.  I might start from the pilot and watch all of them again, since I was too young to remember them the first time I saw them, which is probably a good thing since when the pilot first aired I was just about 4 and in the first two minutes someone pulls a knife and says, “I’m gonna cut you good, sucka.”  Brilliant.  Love it.

Happy Freakin’ Friday.

Such a Sucker

I’m not afraid to admit that I love celebrity gossip and I have no idea why.  I’m just one of those people who just can’t get enough (cue The New Radicals).  I think that new show on E!, Pop Fiction, is brilliant.  They are literally punking the paparazzi…yes, Aston is involved…yes, I just got back from a getaway in the very same Idaho town that he gets away in.  I think that this show is doing wonders for exposing how much of the gossip we read is made up for our own entertainment.  Except maybe all of the stories involving Britney, I believe all of those to be completely factual.

They’re doin’ it right though, because I’ve definitely believed a couple of the stories they’ve done.  They’re apparently so good at it that  E online even ran one of the fabricated stories.  Nice.

The season finale of Lipstick Jungle is on tonight.  Super exciting yet it came too quickly.  I’m excited to see what Victory will do about Joe, personally I think it’s sweet that he bought her company and would not have been as mean to him for doing it as she was.  I would say “thank you”, slap him on the shoulder and say, “you shoulda told me”.  Then kiss him a whole bunch…but that’s just me.

Hate!

Why you gotta hate on the Top Model girls?  This post in TMZ claims the show destroyed the loft they filmed in…what?! No!  Is it really possible that the owner of the loft didn’t know that they’d be shooting a television show in there?  I’m personally shocked (sarcastic) that there were holes in the ceiling where they’d put lights up.  And that there was some floor damage with 13 people living in the same place…and that’s just the contestants, who know how many crew folks there where.  So final verdict?  Homeboy’s trying to get some money out of The CW.  Don’t give in Tyra (or whomever is fighting this fight on her company’s behalf).   Oh and have fun SXSWers, I’m with you in spirit…I’m with my television in body.  What can I saw love my boob-tube–that and I bruised my coccyx  snowboarding, so it kinda hurts to rock.

Horse Mane

I don’t care how fabulous Tyra is, it wouldn’t make me feel any better if she told me that the goal of my makeover was to give me a horse’s mane.  Then she started whinnying…that wouldn’t make me feel fierce.  I amazed at how many girls I’m already done with…luckily one of them went home last night.  Now it’s Fatima’s time to go.

So I used to use the writer’s strike as an excuse, but I can’t anymore.  I’m coming clean.  I like Lipstick Jungle.  Now, you realize be virtue of just typing those four little words, the show will be cancelled in a matter of weeks.  That’s just my show karma.  If I had a nickle for every time someone said “I told it’d be cancelled”.  I wouldn’t need to work here anymore that’s for sure.

I’m going on vacation Saturday!  Idaho, land o potatoes and snow, here I come.  I’m going to Sun Valley.  Al Roker called it and I quote (note quotation marks) “America’s Shangri la”.  All I know is that I’m gonna totally huck it up in some major pow pow.

I hope everyone’s ready for a new face at the X-Games and the Olympics.  Word.

That’s the only way I can describe what takes over my body when I settle into watch last night’s Girlicious, hit the List button on my remote and see that my DVR is empty.  Really?  I mean, am I upset that I upgraded to HD Cable?  No.  Am I upset that the 3 years of saved scheduled recordings has to be reaccumulated?  Yes.  Not that it would’ve helped me in the case of Girlicious, but it’s the principal of it.  I also know that I can watch the same episode again tomorrow, but now people know what’s going to happen before I do and that kills me.

So, Saturday I was at hip hop yoga (the second time in my yoga journey that I’ve done this and both times it’s been ridiculously hard) and this song came on and I instantly liked it, but didn’t know who it was.  I spent the next three days googling what I thought were the lyrics, but kept coming up short.  Last night on a whim, I was feeling whimsy, I tried again.  Jackpot.  I was sooo excited and dance, dance, danced to the :30 preview on iTunes.  I bought it immediately, so I dance, dance, danced to it on repeat while getting ready this morning.

Reflections…

…on some pretty faces.  As I was sitting in the dark last night in my recliner falling deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of the interweb, I came across this.  I’d often wondered what ever happened the Top Models of the past, and this answered all of my questions…well not all of them, I still have absolutely NO clue why Michelle, the one with the skin issues from Cycle 4, who likes girls, just had a baby and is marrying Johnny Fairplay.  I don’t know what reality show he’s from, but I’ve heard his name before, so he must be HUGE.  Anyway, it was fun to catch up with everyone and with the premiere of Cycle Decade tomorrow at 7p on The CW Austin, Cable Channel 12, to be exact, I thought it was more than appropriate to share.

Sooo, what did you guys think of PCD: Girlicious?  Could you rock a wheelchair?  Who’s in it to win it?

There’s a show starting next Tuesday at 9 called quarterlife on KXAN.  There are two things that make me want to watch this show. The first one is that it’s by the same folks who did thirtysomething and My So-Called Life.  The second is that while I was living in New York, I had a bit of a “quarterlife crisis”.  I only know what it’s called because there’s a whole book about it, with the same title.  I was convinced that this book was going to make all my doubts, worries and problems go away…and it might have, but I never got past the first chapter.  Every time I would get a few pages in, I would get all moody and dramatic.  My friend Colleen started to notice the pattern:  quarterlife crisis laying open on the table=Amber in a funk.  Therefore, she would hide the book or completely remove it from my apartment.  I would only get it back if I promised that I would not end up laying on the floor listening to the Felicity soundtracks.  I had the best intentions, but she had to keep taking the book away.

Today is a different day.  Not because my life is stable, because nothing about my current state resembles stability in any way, but because I can read the book again, without the fear of Colleen sneaking it under the couch (unless she’d like to come visit me to do it…I’m totally open to that, maybe this post is a cry for help to Coll…will she hear me?) AND maybe more importantly watch fictional characters acting out what I can only hope will be problems very similar to mine.  I will take notes and act accordingly.  Coincidentally enough, I know there’s a blogging character on the show, so maybe I’ll take notes on that too and just get some of my material from them…just kidding.  I would never ever do that.

I’m gonna go listen to Azure Ray’s “Displaced” now.
